Session Lengths
There’s no “right” session length — it’s about what feels like the best fit for you and the pace you want to work at.
65- and 80-minute sessions offer more space to settle, allow full somatic processes to unfold, and to go deeper into what’s coming up. These longer formats often support faster therapeutic progress because we can ensure full integration within each session. Eco-therapy sessions and relationship-based work are available only in these lengths to ensure there’s adequate time for these processes.
50-minute sessions are helpful when you want to focus on one specific topic or prefer a more concise exploration. They still offer space for meaningful work and can be a great length when meeting for weekly work.
Insurance Coverage
I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (3474) with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists (ACCT) and am covered by many insurance providers.
Every plan is different, so I encourage you contact your provider directly to confirm that you have coverage for Registered Therapeutic Counsellors (RTCs).
RTC coverage sometimes falls under the category title of “Clinical Counselling” in some packages, so it’s important to check directly with your plan.
Providers I often have coverage with, include, but are not limited to:
Aspiria
Pacific Blue Cross
Green Shield Canada
ClaimSecure
Equitable Life of Canada
Sunlife
ManuLife
Great West Life
I encourage you to check your coverage amounts and limits prior to our consultation session.
Money Questions
-
The day of your session, I will send you an invoice for our outstanding balance. I accept payment via e-Transfer or cash.
International clients receive a secure link to pay with a credit card via Stripe. Unfortunately, this involves fees which results in a higher rate for international folks (see rates above).
I really appreciate same day payments as it streamlines my bookkeeping process immensely!
-
Yes, I do! I have a few spots within my practice that I reserve for folks who would otherwise not be able to attend therapy.
Please reach out to me directly to inquire whether I currently have space within my sliding scale.

The what
EcoSoma’s Community Equity Fund (CEF) directly funds additional sliding scale spots within my private practice.
It is fully funded by the community. The most common circumstance is when someone is financially abundant and opts to pay above my regular rate. 100% of the extra contribution goes directly into CEF.
When I give three months notice for my practice’s rate increase anyone who chooses to start paying that rate immediately I contribute the difference in their payments to the CEF fund.
Donations to any community events also help fund the CEF.
The how
I meticulously record any contributions to the CEF fund so that they are kept separate from the rest of EcoSoma’s revenue.
Once enough funds have accrued I open up a new sliding scale slot or pro-bono slot within my practice for a new client that is fully subsidized by the CEF.
The why
When I first started my private practice I wanted to offer as many sliding scale spots as I could because I knew the benefit of receiving this care, having accessed it myself in the past.
However, it quickly became clear to me that I could not sustain my practice in this way. So now, I support folks who can’t afford my regular rate through offering a few consistent sliding scale spots as well as providing free therapeutic educational content to our community.
I dream of the day where we can all access mental health support for free through our healthcare system. Until then, EcoSoma’s Community Equity Fund is a way for our community to care for each other. We aren’t all given the same access to resources and this is one way our community can work together to address this.

Going to therapy, used to have a stigma and for some folks it still does. But in reality, when more people in our circles focus on their wellbeing we all benefit!
The Mycelium Network Discount is my celebration of this. Folks who have been referred to my practice by someone who is, or has been, a client get’s 25% off their first session.
Often, reaching out to meet a new therapist is the biggest hinderance to actually going to therapy. So, this is a way to potentially reduce the barrier for the folks you care about.

Yes, I do. Once your payment is received, I’ll send you a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance provider needs for reimbursement.
