Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! I offer a free 20-minute online consultation call to make sure we feel like a good therapeutic fit before committing to working together. I find it’s important that we don’t feel rushed in the call so I block off up to half an hour incase we need that time.

This is a chance for us to get to know each other, explore what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions you might have, and for me to determine whether I’m the right person to support your goals.

If it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule our first session together, and I’ll send you an intake and consent form to complete beforehand so we have the foundation ready for our work together.

  • Our first session is about getting to know each other and setting the foundation for our work together.

We’ll review your intake form, talk about what you hope to get from counselling, and start with a brief body check-in to see how you’re doing today.

From there, we’ll explore whatever feels most present or important to you.

  • Talk therapy often focuses on thought patterns or talking through challenges, which can be helpful but sometimes keeps us looping in the same stories.

Relational Somatic Therapy and Compassionate Inquiry go deeper by including the body and emotions in the process.

Together, we explore the beliefs shaping your experiences, tune into body sensations for the information they hold, and use visualization to imagine new possibilities.

This approach helps uncover and shift core patterns, bringing choice and awareness to moments that once felt automatic. It also supports the body in releasing stored activation or trauma, allowing those experiences to integrate and settle.

  • How often we meet depends on your goals and what feels sustainable for you.

For many people, biweekly sessions are a sweet spot—enough consistency to stay connected to the work, with space to integrate between sessions. Weekly, or even more frequent sessions, can be helpful during times of acute challenge or when you want to dive deeper into a particular theme.

Some prefer to meet less often, and that’s okay too. There’s no one right pace for therapy—what matters most is finding what works best for you.

  • I specialize in helping people uncover and shift deep patterns that often trace back to childhood. This kind of work takes time and safety, which develop over multiple sessions. Many clients notice meaningful insights early on, but it often takes around 10 sessions or more to begin exploring those deeper layers.

There’s no set timeline for therapy—some people work with me for a few months, while others continue for years. How quickly we peel back layers also depends on how often we meet; more frequent sessions can help us move through the work more deeply and steadily. Some folks use our time together as a consistent space to reflect on what’s unfolding in their lives, rather than focusing on trauma work, which can be equally valuable and supportive.

My goal is for you to develop tools and understanding that help you feel confident navigating whatever life brings. When it feels like our work together is no longer as useful, we’ll identify that together and bring our sessions to a thoughtful close.

  • I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or changes to session length so that I can offer that time to someone else. Cancellations made within 24 hours are charged your full session fee.

While consultations are free, the same policy applies as I reserve that time in my schedule for you. A $50 fee will apply if a consultation is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.

If you get sick or an emergency arises, I completely understand. I just ask that you communicate with me as openly as possible so we can navigate it together on a case-by-case basis.

  • My office is a synthetic-scent-free space, which means I ask folks not to wear perfumes, colognes, scented lotions, body or hair products, or clothing laundered with synthetic fragrance (often listed as “parfum” or “fragrance”) when coming to sessions. I’m allergic to artificial scents, and many others are sensitive to them as well.

To ensure we can do meaningful work together—and that I stay migraine-free—I require all in-person clients (including nature-based sessions) to be synthetic-scent-free. If this isn’t possible for your lifestyle, I totally get and respect that. In that case, we can meet online instead.
